This film is BRILLIANT on more creative & artistic levels than you idiots have the brain capacity to understand.

Anytime something is Black its called scary, frightning, weird, strange, bizarre or terrifying etc. But if you retards look past all of your idiotic ignorant selves then you would see that THE WIZ is a magnificent film and an amazing re-telling of the 1939 film.

From the Costumes, Set Designs, Music Score, to the phenomenal cast, soundtrack and heartfelt theme of this film. THE WIZ is SPECTACULAR. People stop hating because its not a good look.

THE WIZ IS GREAT! and if it takes us smart people who can think outside of the box to realize and understand that FACT then thats all the really matters. The rest of your negative worthless comments are pretty much irrelevant to those of us that find this to be a great piece of sheer cinematic brilliance.

And BY THE WAY. Stephane Mills was NEVER asked nor considered for the role of Dorothy in the film version. And one other fact is that the film would HAVE NEVER been made if it weren't for Diana Ross because all the major studios turned it down until Miss Ross showed interest. Then Universal pictures said they would only do the film if Diana Ross was involed.

The film did not flop at the box office because of Ross. It flopped at the box office because White folks were not taking their families out in droves to see an all black re-telling of their precious overrated 1939 film The Wizard of OZ, period.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2053959619527078829.post-64244841187502110202010-05-30T23:05:08.216-07:002010-05-30T23:05:08.216-07:00Hey guys. Anyway, I remember seeing this when I was like 7 or 8 years old and thinking I must have been on drugs because of the set pieces and the twisted version of THE WIZARD OF OZ. Just a weird film and too long for its own good. It has its moments though, that's for sure.

By the way, your review was hilarious and the photos only enhanced it. And I see Al Roker as well. R.I.P. One night, my friend Artie and I decided to find the current set which was somewhere in Flushing Meadows Park in Corona, where the '64 World's Fair was held. We actually got VERY close and saw Diana coming out of her trailer. There were a lot of people watching behind barricades, but as she walked in the opposite direction, I screamed "DIANA" and she turned around and waved to all of us. The crowd was thrilled and I was a hero!

In the late '90s, I was working for a major accounting firm in NYC. Instead of a normal Holiday party, they rented out Madison Square Garden and the employees had a private concert with DIANA ROSS!!!!! She was AMAZING and actually came out to the audience to sing, so I got to see her up-close-and-personal. It was a little scary, but she still had her figure and her pipes!!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2053959619527078829.post-79797468562706501872010-05-12T11:52:16.110-07:002010-05-12T11:52:16.110-07:00I laughed out loud several times while reading thi...I laughed out loud several times while reading this review. But you describe a movie that even Mills could not have saved. I saw the original on Broadway as a kid and was knocked out by the performances, the story, the adaptation, everything. Sounds like the movie version paraded out so many racial stereotypes that even Arizona would be embarrassed.
By the way, that was Michael Jackson about 7 minutes in; he's the one hooked up to the IV just waking from some kind of nap.
Poppies, perhaps?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2053959619527078829.post-19687755540348096722010-05-05T14:44:59.215-07:002010-05-05T14:44:59.215-07:00I've had a soft spot in my heart for this mess...I've had a soft spot in my heart for this mess of a movie for years - wasn't the first good "witch" Dorothy meets, Miss One, a numbers writer? Gotta love that street cred. Also, loved Mabel King's role as the Wicked Witch, and how she is flushed down a john! It would be a hell of way to spend Halloween night, especially after several beers.

Speaking of...here's my Diana fanboy moment...go to the below link and listen to her singing "Home" from this movie in concert. Just found this and I love it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttygaJUkJhg

-BillyTower Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01117151684983587816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2053959619527078829.post-42632751742464727472010-05-05T10:37:00.272-07:002010-05-05T10:37:00.272-07:00Wow... this version of Oz is much more terrifying ...Wow... this version of Oz is much more terrifying than anything HBO could have dreamed up.
